Prayers for Courage

Lord grant me the strength to hold my head high,
Put a smile on my face, when my eyes want to cry.
When my mind’s in turmoil, despair my friend,
Show me the wisdom to know it will end.
Walk with me, Lord, show me the way,
Help me get through till the next sunny day.
I know I will survive, if you lead me along,
And stand by my side till all’s where it belongs!

Prayer is a powerful thing.  It can raise mountains. It can calm waters.  It is something each of us can do when all else seems hopeless. 
Dear God,

I pray for courage as I begin this day, for I understand there is work to be done, burdens to be carried, feelings to be shared and joys to be celebrated. Grant me the courage to be silent that I may hear Thy voice; to persevere, that I may share Thy victory; and to remember, lest I forget the way by which Thou has led me. And when this day is done, O Lord, may I have the courage to see Thy guiding hand in the friendships that have been made, in the hurts that have been healed, and in the strength that has been given.

Dear God,

I amy not witness rivers turn red, or stars fall from the sky.
Yet there are times when the world becomes unhinged
and the foundations of what I believe crack and dissolve.
Give me the grace to believe that Your power is greater than evil,
and though the world may rock and sometimes break,
it will in time be transformed by Your Love.

Amen.

 
Every Morning lean thine arms awhile

And gaaze upon thy Lord,
Then, with vision in thy heart,
Turn strong to meet thy day.
