| From Our Friends at St John’s Anglican….. February 24th, 2010. Dear Friends in Christ: I am writing to invite you and members of your church to attend a special gathering at St. John’s Anglican Church at a time to be announced. The purpose of this meeting is to seek common ground as to how local churches can respond to environmental issues. The health of our planet is not just an environmental crisis; it is also a spiritual crisis. Our faith tradition tells us that the Earth is sacred because God created it. We are called to be Stewards of Creation and to pass it on, intact, to future generations. As people of faith, we cannot remain silent while God’s Creation is being desecrated. I have invited Ana Santos of Squamish CAN (Climate Change Network) to speak about some of the local environmental issues which include waste reduction, public transportation and habitat protection. Perhaps there are other issues that are of particular concern to your people. Please come so that these can be discussed. Earth Day is on April 22nd, and many public events are being planned for that week. It would be great if local churches could participate and speak with one voice. Sincerely yours, David Dranchuk, Chair, Environment Committee. St. John the Divine Plant Sale Below is the website so that you can see what is offered for sale and the prices, which you will find very reasonable. Please take a look and let us know which one(s) you would like to order. Prepayment is required (which you can give to me), and you will be able to pick them up at the church at 1930 Diamond Road on Saturday, May 8th which seems like a long way off but time does fly! Order deadline is April 25th. Fred and Andrea Gailus http://stjohnsanglican.plants4nonprofit.com First United News....
