Rev. Karen Millard |
| I am
really delighted to live in this beautiful community. I was
drawn to participate in ministry with this warm, welcoming congregation
as I
heard stories of the past and visions for the future. The mission
of Squamish United is “to be an
inclusive community serving God’s world.
This mission fits well with who I am as minister, counsellor and child
of God. As a person with a background in youth ministry, social work, and counselling I believe the church is called to share God’s love, grace and justice with the entire world. I see this same desire within the hearts of many here at Squamish United Church and I look forward to finding new ways to egage with God's mission together.
My ministry passionas are found in creating and participating in
dynamic, engaging worship; along with spiritual formation through
education, spiritual direction and counselling. I also have
passions for service and outreach both within and outside of the church
community. Karen

Quotes to Reflect on: "There are two ways you can live your life. As if nothing is a miracle or as if everything is." - Albert Einstein “It is poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.” – Mother Teresa of Calcutta “All that we do is a means to an end, but love is an end in itself, because God is love.” – Edith Stein "It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness." - Eleanor Roosevelt "Live as if you were to die tomorrow, Learn as if you were to live forever." - Gandi "True religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness" - Albert Einstein "We don't get to the light through endless investigation of the darkness." - Marianne Williamson "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as Christ did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it." –Reinhold Neibuhr "Where there is no love, put love, and you will find love. - St. John of the Cross "The kingdom of God is where we belong. It is home, and whether we realize it or not, I think we are all of us homesick for it." - Frederick Buechner "Where there are dark places, be the light especially there." - Frederick Buechner “It’s always a miracle when we understand
that God is God
and we are not” For more reflections, click here |
